As per, classical music, Sam is nothing but a starting point of any Taal. Something very similar to the above definition of sam is an organisation called SAM which gives opportunity to struggling artists in the field of music and dance.
Society For Action Through Music or SAM not only gives them a platform to perform but also gives them an identity. This organisation gives a stage to unrecognised but skilled artists not only in Delhi but all over India. SAM organises atleast 3 programmes & 1 seminar on a yearly basis. SAM recently will be organising a two days musical festival on 23rd & 24th of May.
The commencement of the musical evening will be by vocal recital of Arundhati Bhattacharya, disciple of Padmashree Vidushi Sumitra Guha. This soulful evening would be carried forward by another vocal recital by a top grade artist of Patiala Gharana, Pt. Rajinder Singh - disciple of Ustad Munnawar Ali Khan.
The second day of this festival would first have a vocal recital by Dr. Namrata Deb of Allahbad, disciple of Prof. Archana Dixit & Prof. Uma Garg. The concluding performance to this musical festival will be by the top most artist of kairana Gharana - vidushi Prof. Uma Garg who learnt the intricate skills of Hindustani classical vocal by Pt. Mani Prasad & Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. She's also the Dean of Faculty of Music and Fine Arts in Delhi University.
These artists would be accompanied by Paromita Mukherjee & Dr. Vinay Sharma on Harmonium & Ustad Akhtar Hussain, Mustafa Hussein, Mihir Natta on Tabla.
This occasion would be a must to visit for all the classical music lovers. This event won't only give you peace & take you away from the chaotic aura but also will teach you a lot.....
